We had a scare tonight with Simon. A window was left open without a screen, and Simon escaped. We looked EVERYWHERE, knocked on every neighbor’s door, put up fliers around the block, filed a police report, put together notices on Craigslist lost/found and everywhere else I could find. I was a wreck. I really love this cat. (I’ve had him longer than I’ve had Dustin) He’s my buddy. I realized I take him for granted, and when I thought I might never see him again, it was devastating. I’m getting him a collar on Monday with a nametag, just in case this ever happens again, and I’ll probably get both him and Gracie microchipped next time we’re at the vet. (and I encourage all of you to do the same!) It’s a scary thing.
Luckily, he came back to me. I had decided to set up camp on our back porch, hoping he’d find his way back, and by the time I got all his stuff out there and sat down with a blanket and a laptop, ready to spend a couple hours, here he comes, slinking back home. Thank you to everyone who expressed concern and passed my emails along. It’s so good to know there’s a network of people out there who truly care about people’s pets and getting them home safely.
